I first met Ken and Sassa at the Bluewater Wedding Fair. They asked me if I would be prepared to fly to Sweden for their Destination Wedding the following September. The answer was of course yes! I have enjoyed getting to know them over their wedding preparations and, although Sassa grew up in Sweden, she now lives in the UK which made the organisation much easier. We met up for their pre wedding shoot here in the UK at Scotney Castle. This was a great opportunity to get to know them better and for them to get used to how I work. Ken himself is a keen photographer, but also very happy behind rather than in front of the lens. I know exactly how he feels and the lovely part of the pre wedding shoot is that it always helps the bride and groom get over any nerves and begin to relax in front of the camera. It was lovely to see them using the photos from this on their wedding day.
With an overseas destination wedding there is a little more involved sorting out the travelling and accommodation. I must say a huge thank you for all their help in organising everything for me. My Swedish is non existent! However flying to Copenhagen Airport was a positive joy. Less than 45 minutes after landing I was on the train to Sweden with my luggage and my remote pick up of the hire car in Lund. Apparently all the hire companies shut at 5pm and close for the weekend.
I stayed in a lovely B and B just minutes from Angavallen Gard, where they were getting married. The next morning I met up with Sassa and her bridesmaids in Trelleborg at the Hair Salon, before giving them a lift back to the venue.
It was a lovely relaxed and happy morning whilst Ken was in charge of marshalling the guests back in Lund onto a bus to travel down to Angavallen.
It was a gloriously sunny day and the gardeners were out early cutting the grass in preparation. The ceremony was held in the gardens, a beautiful setting.
After the ceremony and a few group photographs we headed off into the gardens and grounds for some photos of Ken and Sassa before re-joining their guests for the Wedding Breakfast.
What a wonderful day. Congratulations to Ken and Sassa and a big thank you to them for trusting me to capture their beautiful wedding day. We were blessed with the weather and the day ended with lovely evening light before Ken and Sassa returned to dance the night away with all their friends and family.
